Trailer Analysis

The trailer uses formalistic conventions to intrige the audience and leave the audience clueless so that they would pay to watch the film. An example is the dialogue, there's a lot of questions for instance "where were you that night", this is effective as the audience would probably want to know the answer, however, the only way they can find out is by actually watching the film when it's released. Also, the first bit of dialogue we hear is "I wanna start my life over again", this again leaves the audience wondering what she means by that. The questions reinforces and makes it clear that this film is about an investigation.

The muisc played in the background repeatedly mentioned the word heartless, which reinforces that in the film a heartless act will take place, it also leaves the audience guessing which one of thoese charcaters shown in the trailer will be the to commit the act. The music was auto-tuned which could suggest that the film is distored and different.

Another formalistic convention which was used in the trailer was intertitles. The first three intertiltes made up one sentence which said "one week ago at 4:36 PM a woman disappered" this gives the audience a glimpse of what the film is about . This trailer also makes it clear that there's a main charcater as she is shown multiple times, which makes the audience assume that she is the one who commited the heartless act.

At the end of the trailer there was montage which was at a fast pace the mucic was also amplified and the pace was increased which created a climax. Suddenly the music was cut of and hear the woman say she's afraid of herself, which again reinforces that she's the main charcater as it ends on her.
